We’re sometimes asked what is the best way to get to us…
Our postcode for Satnav is PL29 3RD. We are about 250 miles / 4 hours away from London by road and the quickest route would be via the M4 Westbound to Bristol -> M5 Southbound to Exeter -> A30 -> A395 -> B3314.
The alternative route is via the M3 -> A303 which is a mix of dual and single carriageways and can take considerably longer during busy periods despite being a shorter distance. However, this route does run past Stonehenge if you would like to incorporate a visit into your plans.
Great Western Railway operate direct services to the Westcountry from London Paddington. You would need the service that terminates in Penzance. The closest rail station on the route to Port Isaac is Bodmin Parkway. The quickest journey time for the direct service is 3 hours and 40 minutes, but double check before you book as some services stop more frequently and hence take longer. The best place to start to plan your journey and book tickets would be www.gwr.com or at www.nationalrail.co.uk
From Bodmin Parkway (which is in the middle of nowhere!) your best bet would be a taxi. There are usually taxis waiting outside or we can pre-book one of our local firms to meet you. It takes about 35 minutes by car to Port Isaac from Bodmin Parkway. Alternatively, there are car hire firms operating out of Bodmin who can pick you up from the station (see below).
International flights normally operate out of either London Heathrow or London Gatwick airports. Our closest airport is Newquay Airport which operates daily flights to London Gatwick with a flight time of just over an hour. From Newquay the options would either be to hire a car or taxi.
There is a National Express service to Wadebridge from London Victoria, but be prepared for a 7 hour journey!! From Wadebridge your only option really would be a taxi as the local bus service is sadly very infrequent these days.
Hiring a car
Guests normally hire a car from the airport and drive or else there are a couple of car hire firms in Bodmin that will pick you up from the railway station. Try Enterprise in Bodmin.
